Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Glance a Day browser extension (“the extension”) and the website https://glancea.day collect, use and protect your information. In short: your calendar data stays in your own browser, we run no server that stores user data, and there is no telemetry.

1. Information we process

Data stored on your device: events you create (title, time, notes, colour, repeat rule), custom holiday rules and your settings (language, region mode, display options). This data stays in your browser; we cannot access it.

Optional: Google account information. Only if you connect Google Calendar, the extension obtains your Google account email (to show “Connected as …”) and access to the calendar the extension creates.

What we do not collect: browsing history, page content, location, contacts, usage statistics or any telemetry. The extension contains no analytics or advertising code.

2. How we use information

  • To show your calendar, events and holidays in the popup and settings page;
  • When sync is on, to push the events you chose to sync into a dedicated calendar in your Google account;
  • If you also turn on two-way sync, to read changes made in that dedicated calendar (including events created or deleted there) and apply them locally;
  • To display which Google account is connected.

We never use your data for advertising, profiling, sale, or anything unrelated to the extension's features.

3. Storage and security

Events and holiday rules are stored in the browser's IndexedDB; settings in the browser's storage.sync (synced by your browser vendor across devices signed in to the same browser account).

The Google access token is kept only in the browser's session storage (storage.session) — in memory, never written to disk, and gone when the browser closes. We never obtain or store Google refresh tokens or client secrets.

All communication with Google happens over HTTPS directly between your browser and Google, never through our servers.

4. Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)

The extension requests only these Google scopes: openid, email (to show the connected account) and https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.app.created (limited to creating and managing the extension's own “Glance a Day” calendar). It cannot read or modify your primary or any other calendar.

Glance a Day's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The use of information received from Google APIs will also adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, Google user data is used only to provide the user-facing calendar sync feature; it is not transferred to third parties (except as required by law or with your explicit consent), not used for advertising, and not read by humans.

5. Third parties and sharing

Google: only after you connect Google Calendar, the events you choose to sync are sent to your own Google account. Google's processing is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Holiday data: once a day the extension downloads public holiday data from https://glancea.day/data/cn-legal-holidays.json. It is a plain HTTPS request carrying none of your calendar data; like any website, our server sees the requesting IP address and browser user agent in its access logs, which are used only for operations and security and are deleted regularly.

We do not share data with anyone else.

6. Your rights and controls

  • Export: Settings → Data → Export JSON / .ics;
  • Delete: delete individual events or wipe everything in Settings → Data; uninstalling removes all local data;
  • Disconnect Google: Settings → Sync → Disconnect revokes the current access token;
  • Revoke access: at any time on your Google Account permissions page.

7. Retention

Local data is kept until you delete events, wipe your data or uninstall. Events synced to Google stay in your Google account until you delete them (or the whole dedicated calendar) in Google Calendar. Server access logs are kept for at most 30 days.

8. Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. International transfers

Your calendar data stays on your device. If you enable Google sync, Google stores and processes it on its global infrastructure. Website access logs may be stored where the website is hosted.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy (for example to request a new Google scope or change how data is used), we will update this page and its date first; significant changes will be mentioned in the extension's release notes.
